LANSING - Rep. Dave Agema (R-Grandville) has introduced legislation to prevent illegal aliens from getting a Michigan driver’s license. Agema said his legislation would complement the proposed new regulations that would allow a Michigan driver’s license to substitute for a United States passport for Michigan residents entering and leaving Canada. I recently become aware of this foolish issuring of drivers license to illegal aliens. When did this start? The citizens of Michigan were never aware of this. What can we do to stop this idiotic practice. Who and when did this become law? I never knew as many of us until Lou Dobbs got into the NY license debacle that we were one of only a few states that allowed this. Was it Gov. Granholm that authorized it? I am rambling on only because I could not believe this had happened without the people being aware of it. Please advise me if there is any movement or backing we can offer to help defeat this problem. Thank you in advance

For sixty years I have been a resident of the State of Michigan. It is my contention that we are one people with shared values and experiences that transcend our differences and characterize our willingness to form a melting pot. We speak one language that pledges our allegiance to one flag.We are one nation the United States of America.
By allowing illegal foreign nationals to circumvent our laws undermines the virtues of being a citizen and is a disservice to every law abiding American.
With no leadership from the White House in this regard and politicians pandering and genuflecting to every whim and demand of those who would take advantage of our support services and system while ordinary Americans are shuned is criminal and deserves as much respect as the sound of one hand clapping.
